Reference photos: how to see an exact piece of furniture in your own room
Found a specific sofa online? With reference photos the AI places that exact piece in your room — the right shape, colour and scale. How it works, step by step.

Ordinary AI staging furnishes your room with pieces it chooses itself. But sometimes the question is more precise: does that exact sofa — the one open in a tab on your phone — fit in your exact living room? That's what reference photos solve: you show the AI the piece, and it places that one in your room.
How it works
1. Take a photo of your room
Photograph the room where the piece will go, in daylight and with the camera level.
2. Drop in the reference photo
Use the product image from the shop's website, a screenshot from the listing or your own photo. Up to four references per staging — the sofa, the rug, the lamp and the armchair at once.
3. Describe the placement
Write where and how: "place the sofa from the reference photo by the window, keep everything else". The AI recreates the piece's shape, colour, material and proportions — in your room's light and perspective.
When reference photos are the right tool
- Before an expensive purchase: see the sofa at home before you order — skip the return and the regret
- For secondhand finds: no time to deliberate, test it digitally in a minute
- For designers: show the client the exact proposed piece in the client's own room
- For shops and brands: show the product in the customer's setting instead of a studio
Tips for the best result
Choose a reference photo where the piece is clearly visible, ideally straight on or at a slight angle. The cleaner the product image, the truer the result. And always check the scale against the room's dimensions — enter length and width and the AI holds the proportions.
