Choosing a virtual staging service: 7 questions to ask before you pay
Every virtual staging service sounds the same — until you examine them. The 7 questions that separate serious tools from disappointments: honesty, price, control and quality.

The supply of virtual staging services is growing fast, and on the surface they all sound the same: 'AI', 'photorealistic', 'in minutes'. The differences sit below the surface. Here are the seven questions that reveal them — whichever service you're evaluating.
1. Does it change the room — or just the furnishing?
The most important question. Tools that 'improve' light, walls or floors create images that lie — and you're the one responsible for the listing. Demand that architecture, light and flaws are always kept exactly.
2. Can you try it free without a card?
Serious services let the result convince you. A card before the first image is a warning flag.
3. What does it cost per image — really?
Convert everything to a price per image. Traditional services charge €20–45 per image; AI tools should be a few cents. Watch out for credits that hide the real cost.
4. How much control do you get?
Can you describe the style freely? Steer how much the AI is allowed to invent? Use reference images for specific furniture? Without control, every result is a lottery.
5. How fast does the result come?
Minutes, not days. Services with 'delivery within 24–48h' are often manual work behind an AI façade — which shows in the price.
6. Can you label the images as staged?
Good marketing practice requires transparency. A tool built for property listings should have built-in labelling, e.g. an 'AI-enhanced' badge.
7. Where do your images end up?
Read how the service handles uploaded images: are they used to train models? Can you delete them? Property photos are personal data — the handling should be clear.
How STAIGE answers
For the sake of transparency: STAIGE never changes rooms, light or flaws; 3 images are free without a card; Pro costs 99 SEK/month (about €9) for 20 stagings — a few cents per image; you control style, freedom and references; results in about a minute; label marking is built in; your images are yours and can be deleted at any time. Ask the same questions of every alternative you're considering.
